Membership And Marketing Director

This position, in partnership with the branch leadership team, will direct efforts to increase member sales and engagement at the Unicoi County Family YMCA. The Membership and Marketing Director, under the direct supervision of the CEO, is responsible for implementing ongoing tactics to engage new and returning members, creating sales opportunities outside of the Y facility. The director has the responsibility for the development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy including branding, communications, and public relations to support YMCA leadership, while strengthening the mission of the Unicoi County Family YMCA. Strong organizational skills, Social Media and Website Management are a must.

Fitness Center Attendant 

Wellness Center Attendant at Unicoi County Family YMCA

Responsibilities:

– Monitor wellness areas, greet members, and provide assistance during their facility use.

– Maintain a neat and clean Wellness Center, ensuring all equipment is cared for and stored properly.

– Control occupancy of the Wellness Center, exercise sound judgment regarding member safety, and respond to emergencies.

– Conduct facility tours for prospective members, showcasing YMCA practices and procedures.

– Attend staff meetings and in-house training sessions as directed by the supervisor.

– Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

– Age 18+

– CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens, and Child Abuse Prevention training (Within 30 days of hire date).

– Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with adults and youth.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

– Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.

Lifeguard

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.

2. Know and review all emergency procedures, responding promptly to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and the “safe-in-six” model.

3. Respond to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.

4. Understand, apply, and consistently follow safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.

5. Remain calm and objective under pressure or when challenged by others.

6. Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or state health department code.

7. Perform equipment checks and ensure availability of appropriate equipment as needed.

8. Check the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival.

9. Perform opening and closing cleaning responsibilities.

10. Perform chemical testing when not on guard duty, as required, and take appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Minimum age of 16

– Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration

– Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent

– Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date

– Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness

– Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The Lifeguard must physically perform all required skills, hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, remain alert without lapses of consciousness, and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

Child Care

Essential Functions:

  1. Quality Child Care: Provide high-quality child care services in accordance with Unicoi County Family YMCA standards.
  2. Build Relationships: Cultivate effective relationships with children and parents, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
  3. Policy Adherence: Adhere to Unicoi County Family YMCA policies, rules, and emergency procedures, completing incident and accident reports as needed.

Monday – Friday: 2:30 – 6:00

Qualifications:

  1. Certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Bloodborne Pathogen training within the initial 30 days of hire.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in child care or related fields is preferred.
  3. Age Requirement: Minimum age requirement of 16 years.

Physical Demands: Capability to lift child care equipment and engage in activities with children.

Group Fitness Yoga Instructor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Model the YMCA’s commitment to improving health and well-being.

2. Stay informed about fitness industry and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to members.

3. Develop and deliver yoga sequences, instruct classes, and demonstrate proper form in a safe and effective manner.

4. Respond immediately to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

5. Collaborate with the Health & Fitness Coordinator to find substitutes when unable to attend a scheduled yoga class.

6. Keep accurate class attendance records.

7. Maintain organized, clean, and inviting facility areas and equipment.

8. Enforce all YMCA rules and regulations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND REQUISITES:

– Required certifications: CPR, AED, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM, FITOUR) in group fitness instruction, or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.

– Attend and successfully complete within 90 days of hire: YMCA Healthy Lifestyles.

– Demonstrate customer service and communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

– Walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods while maintaining alertness.

– Ability to provide modified, intermediate, and advanced instructions to accommodate all fitness levels.

– Establish and maintain professional relationships with members and staff.

– Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

– Lifting and carrying supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

– Frequent bending, leaning, and kneeling.
