What is a Counselor in Training (C.I.T.)?

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program at the Unicoi County Family YMCA offers teens aged 13 to 17 an opportunity to develop valuable job skills and leadership qualities while gaining hands-on experience in a day camp setting.

Program Overview:

The CIT Program focuses on teaching teens the essential job skills needed to become effective counselors and strong employees. Participants have the chance to assist counselors with younger campers, providing leadership and guidance under supervision.

Selection Process:

CITs are selected through an application and interview process. Space in the program is limited, and a 4-week commitment is required if selected.

Interested teens can apply by completing a CIT registration form available at the Unicoi County Family YMCA.

Program Fee:

Participants are required to pay $65 per week for their involvement in the CIT Program.
